A Mission of Love
Have you ever wondered about helping those in need around the world? For many years as a young man, I wondered what it would be like to help those who are truly impoverished, with little hope for improvement or ever living a life as blessed as we here in America.
Today, as wealthy and blessed as most are here in America, it is hard to believe that nearly 10% of the world’s population lives on less than $2.15 per day. In 2011, we had the opportunity to visit Paraguay. After having traveled to 10’s of nations and seeing poverty close-up, there was something about these special people. I suppose it was God giving us a heart for this nation. We joined with the family of one of our church members who had, along with a couple others, started a Foundation called “With a Smile Foundation” and they were feeding, providing clothing, & basic help to children who were malnourished, and had little hope for a future.
Today after 12 years, we see children with shoes or sneaks on their feet, decent clothes, food, education, and a hope for tomorrow. We see children today who are vibrant and happy and filled with expectation. Today, hundreds of children & their families are touched on a regular basis by people who will possibly never meet these great kids. We realize we are only helping a small percentage of the poverty stricken in the world, but yet we are making a difference, one child at a time.
America is the most generous nation on this planet and Americans just like you are choosing to make a difference in the life of a child. This article does little justice to the work actually being done every day in Paraguay by a 100% volunteer staff of both young and old.
I have made several trips to this great nation and each time I return to America with greater hope, and yet a still greater sense of urgency to do more for those trapped in poverty. I know we can make a difference because I have seen it with my own eyes. I know there are loving and sacrificially people in the world, because I see it each time I visit this nation and the With a Smile Foundation.
I only wish that more people could see, first hand, the Godly Compassion being spread to some of the poorest and hopeless people in the world. God’s goodness is being displayed here in Paraguay and I’m sure in many places around the world. You can make a difference! Our church of only around 100 people makes a difference in the lives of these people each and every day and with your help and generosity we can expand our influence and literally change the future of the next generation of Paraguayan people.
It is rare to see a volunteer organization run with such efficiency and compassion. People who dedicate hours of their daily life for those who can never repay them. I invite you to come and see for yourself God’s love on display in the nation of Paraguay!
Following are a few photos from our most recent trip in March of 2023 where a team of men & women helped to build a small house for a family in poverty who has themselves, faithfully volunteered at the foundation to help their fellow brothers and sisters in poverty. Love is alive & well around the world. Why not join us and make your mark, leave a legacy of love!
